What Should I Expect at My First Marquette BJJ Practice?
You do not need to know anything about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu before coming to Humphrey Hall for your first practice.
Seriously.
New students are taught from the ground up.
A typical Marquette BJJ practice may include technical instruction, partner drilling, movement, positional games, and opportunities to practice techniques against increasing levels of resistance.
Live grappling, often called rolling, is also part of learning jiu jitsu, but beginners are introduced to it progressively.
The goal is to challenge you without creating an environment where you feel like you have something to prove every time you step onto the mat.
